The Year of Cybersecurity

The year 2020 has been like no other in recent time.  While private companies and government organizations have made amazing adjustments to what has been the “new normal” such as via remote learning and work from home, the securing and safeguarding of data and networks has lagged behind.  We believe 2021 will be (must be) The Year of Cybersecurity.  January’s Benkyokai  featured two distinguished experts in the field of Cybersecurity as they explored critical topics such as securing remote workers, the healthcare system response to Covid, and the Tokyo Olympics.

The January 2021 Benkyokai featured Claire Vishik, Intel Fellow and CTO of Intel GMT (Government, Markets, Trade) division and Mihoko Matsubara, Chief Cybersecurity Strategist at NTT Corporation, Tokyo.  The session was moderated by SVJP’s President, Jon Shalowitz.

Claire Vishik’s work focuses on Artificial Intelligencehardware and network security, Trusted Computing, privacy enhancing technologies, some aspects of cryptography, and related global policy and trade issues. Read more..

Mihoko Matsubara is responsible for cybersecurity thought leadership at NTT Corporation, Tokyo. She worked at the Japanese Ministry of Defense before her MA at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies on Fulbright. Read more..
